Local Military Spouse Dedicates Talent and Knowledge to Empower Young Adults

The El Paso Ultra Model Competition is a contest of beauty, skill and talent. It gives contestants the opportunity to experience real-world modeling situations and determine if they have what it takes to become a professional model. Through a series of four challenges, contests learn runway techniques, commercial/editorial photography and acting. Contestants receive general public votes and industry judging all from the click of a button at the contest's website.

El Paso, TX, April 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Veteran military spouse, Tondaleya Shamley, has been working in the modeling and fashion industries for almost 30 years. She never knew her hobby and extra-curricular activities would become a way to give back to the community. Mrs. Shamley formed The El Paso Ultra Model Competition (EPUM) in January 2007 after being faced with her husband’s second deployment to Iraq. “The EPUM Competition gave me an outlet where I could keep myself pre-occupied and connected to something I love to do. It helped me get through our family’s most difficult times.”

The El Paso Ultra Model Competition was created to give aspiring models within the El Paso and surrounding area the opportunity to experience and seek out other avenues and opportunities within the Fashion Industry. This is a fun way to learn and interact with other aspiring models. These experiences are important to any model's career. The techniques and information Contestants learn and experience are invaluable. Contestants are placed in real world situations and continue to compete until one El Paso Ultra Model has been selected by the general public and a panel of industry judges. Mrs. Shamley makes sure all contestants walk away from competition with experience, know-how and tools needed to get started in the modeling industry.


The EPUM Competition is now accepting registrations for the 2010 challenge. All female contestants must be between the ages of 18 and 24. There are no height, size or weight requirements for this competition. All contestants must complete the online registration process before Sunday, April 2, 2010.

To become a contestant, all contestants must pre-register online at the El Paso Ultra Model competition website to be casted as a contestant.

Mrs. Shamley is also the Editor-In-Chief of epStyle e-Magazine, El Paso Fashion Examiner, Fashion Contributor and Creative Director/Fashion Editor of Army Wife Magazine, Coordinator of the El Paso Ultra Model Competition, and Industry Author.

Saturday,
October 27, 2007, several EPUM Contestants attend the City of El Paso 3rd
Annual Graffiti Wipeout Rod and Custom Car Show.


 




The purpose of this event is "to offer a day of fun
filled entertainment for the unfortunate children residing in local crisis
intervention centers.  All of the events proceeds to benefit the
Center Against Family Violence."



 






The EPUM Contestants had the opportunity to interact
with hundreds of children, pass out candy and balloons as well
as sign autographs.  They also graced the stage with their
presence and provided personal introductions to the crowd of
on-lookers.

Contestants participate in several events and functions throughout the
city to no only promote their involvement in the EPUM competition but to
also show their humanity for their community.  As with any
competition title, it is important that when holding that title you
represent your community and give back whenever possible.  Our
contestants learn how to walk on the runway, perform a commercial or

Modeling Competition being offer to El Paso Teens

El Paso Ultra Model (EPUM) Competition is designed to encourage young
ladies, ages 16 to 21. It offers the opportunity for teen girls to open
their minds to the opportunities of careers in modeling and fashion. The
objective is to teach and train contestants how to compete on a
professional level within the entertainment Industry. It also opens
opportunities within the world of fashion and modeling in El Paso, Texas
and surrounding areas. The EPUM Competition is an opportunity to learn and
develop skills that could be used in modeling or everyday life. One of the
competitions main goals is to help build and develop self-respect,
self-confidence and to share the talents of others with the world.

To register for the competition, contestants can retrieve registration
documents from the website,
www.epultramodel.com and/or attend a FREE contestant open call.
Documents can be provided completed or picked up during the open call. The
open call is scheduled for Saturday, July 14th between 11am and 3pm.
All registration documents must be received and postmarked no later than
August 31, 2007.
